Reliable bloomer in the Pacific Northwest and other northern regions; in July-August, the 18-24 tall slender pointed stems erupt in canary yellow flowers held by glowing red calyces over a period of several weeks. Plants are rhizomatous and create a patch 3-5 wide over time. Best in well drained, organically rich, consistently moist soils in part shade; will not tolerate heavy soil. Plant rhizomes 4 deep as they tend to push themselves skyward; winter mulch. USDA Z7-10 3x5" tall pot
